Vestige Bound was a project I worked on along with another programmer almost every day alongside our studies for just shy of a year. But it was never completed or released, a project that only serves as experience.
Vestige Bound was supposed to be a procedural narrative RPG. The goal was to capture the feeling of travel, of being on the road. It was somewhat inspired by games like Oregon Trail (1985). The player controlled a caravan that traveled in a hex-grid world, the player had to eat, drink manage cold and fight to survive. Vestige Bound was our dream game and we worked on it pretty zealously, even though it was pretty clear from early on that the scope was too large and it was only growing. It was so large that we were only able to test the core gameplay loop after that year of development and then found out that it simply wasn't fun to play. The project was scrapped and now it stands as a lesson in testing projects regularly.
